Florida Recycling Champions Awards

The Florida Recycling Partnership Foundation Recycling Champions Awards recognize companies, organizations, governmental entities, and individuals that have made a significant impact in recycling. The organization also recognizes and celebrates new innovative programs in water reuse, energy efficiency, sustainability, and environmental stewardship.

2024 Recycling Champions

  • Collier County’s “Preserve Our Paradise” – Promotes sustainable waste management to protect natural beauty.
  • Coca-Cola Beverages Florida – Closed-loop recycling initiative with major partners like USF and Tampa Bay Rays.
  • Desert Wireless Recycling, Inc. – Recycled 4.5 million pieces of hazardous waste since 2006.
  • Goodwill Suncoast & Hillsborough County – Created convenient drop-off centers integrating donations and waste disposal.
  • USF Stavros Center Superheroes Program – Empowering K-12 educators to teach sustainability problem-solving.

Florida Recycling Partnership Foundation announces 2025 leadership team

Tallahassee, FL – The Florida Recycling Partnership Foundation has announced its 2025 leadership team. Donn Githens, President/CEO for Goodwill Manasota, was elected as Chair. Lisa Gilliard, Senior Manager, Sustainability Programs for Publix Super Markets, will serve as Chair-Elect. Jenna Register Emerson, Manager, Public Affairs, Communications, & Social Impact for Cemex was elected as Secretary and James P. Toner, Senior Director of Government Relations for the International Bottled Water Association will serve as Secretary/Treasurer. Elizabeth Castro DeWitt, President/CEO of the Florida Beverage Association is the Past Chair and will continue to serve as on the Board.

Board Members include Erin Black, VP Sustainability, Risk Management, and Facilities – Coca-Cola Beverages Florida, LLC (Coke Florida); Billi Jo Huddleston, Environmental Services Manager – Florida Power & Light; Mike Rubin, President/CEO – Florida Ports Council; Derieth Sutton Vice President, Economic Development & Community Relations – Niagara Bottling and Andrew Williams, President – MARPAN.

Keyna Cory will continue as Executive Director of the Foundation.

Florida Recycling Partnership Foundation is a coalition of companies who are at the forefront of developing and adopting sustainable business practices that not only promote recycling but reduce and reuse our resources.

Their mission is to educate policy makers, business leaders and the public about the benefits of recycling. In the past 11 years the organization has grown from 5 to 26 members and has conducted 22 recycling workshops/summits throughout the state. They are also responsible for coordinating Florida Recycles Day with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
