Our Executive Director, Keyna Cory, was included on a panel entitled, “Unboxing the Latest Regional Recycling Updates“, at this year’s WasteExpo Conference held in Las Vegas. The panel discussed the latest recycling legislation and regulations updates in each region as well as talking discussing recycling challenges. Keyna highlighted several Florida Recycling Partnership Foundation programs and shared how they are positively impacting recycling in the Sunshine State. More than 14,000 people attended the conference.

The Florida Recycling Partnership Foundation participated in the Florida Chamber of Commerce Safety, Health & Sustainability Conference at the Contemporary Hotel, Walt Disney World. WM Communications Sr. Manager Amy Boyson and Keyna Cory gave a presentation on “Enhancing Recycling to Meet Your Sustainability Goals” where they discussed how to start, improve and take your recycling programs to the next level.

USF Patel College Sustainability Partnership Expo and Fair

The Florida Recycling Partnership Foundation participated in the April 4th USF Patel College Sustainability Partnership Expo and Fair. FRPF had a table display and the opportunity to talk with several Sustain-a-BULLS, the nickname for Sustainability Students at USF, about recycling and potential careers in the field along with the great recycling programs of FRPF members.

Other friends attending the event included the City of Tampa’s Chief Sustainability Officer, Whit Remer, and his Tampa Green Team, andFRPF Recycling Champion Award Winner Eric Caplan from the Tampa International Airport.

Thank you, Dr. Pradeep Haldar, for inviting us to participate in this event.

FRPF and Florida Department of Environmental Protection at the City of Tallahassee Chain of Parks

Thank you, Florida Department of Environmental Protection, for inviting us to join you at the City of Tallahassee Chain of Parks event held on April 20 & 21 to talk about recycling! This event draws more than 35,000 people. Members of the FDEP team and our Executive Director, Keyna Cory, spoke with attendees about how to recycle right. We used our “What’s Wrong with the Bin” game as an educational tool. It was a fun, interactive way to remind people what belongs in the bin, such as clean and dry cardboard, paper, plastic bottles, jugs and aluminum cans.

FDEP showed items that were made from recycled materials just as socks, shoes, paper, and aluminum cans. Aluminum cans can be indefinitely recycled and once placed in a recycling bin, it takes only 60 days for it to be back on the shelf ready to be used again.

Thank you, Deputy Secretary Jessica Cramer, Lily Etemadi and Alexandra Kuchta, Communications Director for stopping by and showing your support. We enjoyed working in the booth with Chris Perry, Karen Moore, and Lauren and are looking forward to next year’s event.
